Counselling & Psychotherapy

“Counselling takes place when a counsellor sees a client in a private and confidential setting to explore a difficulty the client is having, distress they may be experiencing or perhaps their dissatisfaction with life, or loss of a sense of direction and purpose. It is always at the request of the client as no one can properly be ‘sent’ for counselling”
BACP 2006

I start with an initial assessment session lasting the usual 50 minutes, where we can explore the concerns which have brought you to counselling. This is a chance for us to meet, for you to ask any questions you may have and to consider whether I am the right person for you. Equally, this also gives me the opportunity to understand what you are looking for and to see if I feel what I can offer will suit you. We can then agree what would be helpful for you. This may be for a set number of sessions or be left open. My work with people can be for any length of time according to their needs. This is determined by regular reviews of our work together.

If you decide to continue with counselling following the assessment session, the suggestion is that we meet at the same time once a week. Each session will last for 50 minutes.
